Stream Energy Seeks Maryland Electric License

Stream Energy has applied for a Maryland electric supplier license.  A copy of Stream's application was not immediately available (Maillog #125685).  As only reported in Matters, Stream recently obtained an electric generation supplier license in Pennsylvania.  As ECM readers are aware, Stream relies on a network marketing approach, which in the past week has created controversy in the Maryland market regarding proper regulation of independent sales representatives (coverage here and here, and see related story today regarding Interstate Gas Supply's support for consumer protection rulemaking)

MidAmerican Energy Company Seeks Pennsylvania License
MidAmerican Energy Company has applied for a Pennsylvania electric generation supplier license to serve all sizes of commercial, industrial, and governmental customers in all service areas.  MidAmerican Energy said that its competitive retail portfolio includes 18,000 commercial and industrial customers with annual electric usage of over 11 billion kWh and natural gas sales of more than 48 Bcf.

WGES Seeks Expanded Pennsylvania Gas, Electric Licenses
Washington Gas Energy Services submitted amendments to its Pennsylvania electric and natural gas supplier licenses to expand its service areas.  For electricity, WGES filed to add Penn Power to its list of service areas in which it will serve customers, which already includes all of the other major electric distribution companies in the state (which unlike Penn Power are in PJM).  For gas, WGES filed to add the service territories of UGI utilities - Gas Division, UGI Central Penn Gas, and UGI Penn Natural Gas to its license.  Currently, WGES is authorized to serve customers at Columbia Gas and PECO Gas.
