**Exclusive - Must Credit EnergyChoiceMatters.com**

An affiliate of TXU Energy, Brighten Energy LLC, has applied for a Pennsylvania electric generation supplier license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers, in all service areas.

Brighten Energy LLC is an indirect subsidiary of Energy Future Holdings Corp. Organizationally, it is separate from Energy Future Competitive Holdings Company and Texas Competitive Electric Holdings Company, under which TXU and Luminant are organized.

However, Brighten Energy will still be run by TXU's management, with Jim Burke serving as CEO of Brighten Energy.

Brighten is the brand name TXU recently announced for its smart energy and energy efficient products, including its Power Monitor, iThermostat, and online energy store (Matters 9/15/10)

Brighten Energy's application is docketed as A-2010-2201210.

Energy Future Holdings' entry into the Pennsylvania market follows Reliant Energy's application, first reported by Matters (8/9/10), for a Pennsylvania electric supplier license in August.  However, Reliant is only seeking to serve the larger commercial and industrial market in Pennsylvania, while Brighten Energy will serve all customer classes, including the mass market.
