Email This Story
October 8, 2010

The City of Meadville, Pennsylvania, has approved a municipal opt-out electric aggregation program proposed by FirstEnergy Solutions, according to the Meadville Tribune.

As previously reported by Matters, FirstEnergy Solutions has been lobbying home-rule municipalities in Pennsylvania to adopt opt-out aggregation plans (see discussion in 8/31/10 issue).

The Meadville program supplied by FirstEnergy Solutions is for 17 months effective January 1, 2011, and includes the typical FirstEnergy Solutions municipal aggregation pricing of 6% off of default service for residential customers and 4% off of default service for small commercial customers.

Meadville, with a population of approximately 13,000, is located in the Penelec service area.
