Reliant to Pay $50,000 Under Settlement with PUCT Staff Relating to Compliance Audit

Reliant Energy Retail Services, LLC would pay an administrative penalty of $50,000 under a settlement with PUCT Staff to resolve Staff's allegations that Reliant was not in compliance with 14 provisions of the Substantive Rules (38785).

Staff's allegations resulted from a compliance audit.

Among other things, Staff alleged that Reliant was not in compliance with the following provisions:

• P.U.C. SUBST. R. 25.474(d)(5)(1) relating to enrollment via the internet.  Website did not include a statement that a timely exercised right of rescission will be without penalty.
• P.U.C. SUBST. R. 25.475(g) relating to electricity facts label (EFL).  For a period of time, the Company did not have a unique EFL for customers in one of its service areas.
• P.U.C. SUBST. R. 25.475(g)(2)(C) relating to electricity facts label.  Total average price for one product was incorrect.
• P.U.C. SUBST. R. 25.479(c)(1)(H) relating to bill content.  Certain billing terms were inconsistent with the Terms of Service document and a bill label was incorrect.

Reliant has corrected all of the alleged deficiencies cited by Staff.
