AlphaBuyer Seeks Pa. Electric Broker License
Start-up AlphaBuyer, LLC has applied for a Pennsylvania electric broker/marketer license to serve residential and commercial customers under 25 kW in all service areas.  AlphaBuyer will broker through its website, which it describes as a group buying platform.  The site will also offer natural gas service, as well as gasoline, heating oil, and propane brokering.  AlphaBuyer's principals include several former senior directors and managers at GSI Commerce (f/k/a Global Sports Inc), a firm that provides e-commerce and interactive marketing services to over 500 clients including the NFL and other sports leagues, several retail chains such as Ace Hardware, Toys R Us, and Belk, and brands such as Calvin Klein and Dockers.  AlphaBuyer is led by CEO Kevin Johnson, former CEO of Dryden Procurement Technologies, LLC, a procurement and spend management company.  AlphaBuyer's intent to seek a Pennsylvania electric broker license was first reported by Matters, in connection with its Pennsylvania gas broker application (10/1/10).
