Oasis Energy Seeks Pa. License, Begins Offering Residential Service at BGE

Oasis Power, LLC (d/b/a Oasis Energy) applied for a Pennsylvania electric generation supplier license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers, in all service areas.  

Oasis Energy is active in New York and recently began offering residential service at Baltimore Gas & Electric.  

At BGE, Oasis Energy is offering residential customers a variable rate, up to 8% less than the utility's estimated rate for the customer's electric supply for an introductory two-month period.  Following the two-month introductory period, Oasis offers a month-to-month variable price per kWh based on current market conditions.  Oasis also charges a “monthly electricity management fee” of $4.95 per residential account

According to a terms of service on Oasis' website, the minimum term of service for the BGE residential agreement is 24 months.

An early termination fee of $5.00 per remaining month or $50.00, whichever is less, will be charged to the customer for canceling service prior to the expiration of the 24-month term.  The customer has the right to terminate the contract without penalty during this period if the customer moves to another location and the customer provides 30 calendar days advance written notice of the customer's intent to terminate the agreement.  

Additionally, the terms of service states that Oasis may change its "pricing methodology" for the period following the introductory two-month period upon 15 days notice to the customer, with the notice provided at least 30 days prior to the customer's next scheduled meter read.  Upon receipt of such notice, the customer can cancel the agreement at any time without penalty or a termination fee to the company.
