Tara Energy to Pay $13,000 Under Settlement with PUCT Staff

Tara Energy, LLC would pay $13,000 under a settlement with PUCT Staff to resolve allegations from PUCT Staff that Tara Energy was not in compliance with nine provisions of the Substantive Rules (Docket 38839).

The allegations resulted from a compliance audit.

Among other things, Staff alleged that Tara was not in compliance with the following:

• "P.U.C. SUBST. R. 25.475(c)(2)(D) relating to General contracting requirements.  The Company's TOS [terms of service] does not indicate [the] type of product using the prescribed terms.”
• "P.U.C. SUBST. R. 25.479(c)(1)(I) relating to Bill content.  The company failed to express the calculation of its average unit price as cents per kilowatt-hour.”
• "P.U.C. SUBST. R. 25.473(b) relating to Non-English Language Requirements.  The Company's enrollment forms and contract documents were in English only rather than the language used in the marketing of the product.”

Tara has since corrected all of the issues raised by Staff.
