Ambit Energy Announces Maryland Residential Offers

Email This Story
October 28, 2010

Ambit Energy's previously announced expansion into the Maryland residential market (9/13) is on schedule for a November 1 start for enrollments, and Ambit has announced product offerings for the campaign.

Ambit will initially begin with marketing electric service in the Baltimore Gas & Electric residential market.  Ambit will offer a variable rate product that is 7% lower that the applicable BGE supply rate for the first two months, and that will guarantee that, over 12 months, the customer will realize savings of at least 1% versus the BGE supply rate.

Ambit will offer a 100% wind product for an adder of 2¢/kWh over its standard monthly variable rate.

Regarding its recently launched small commercial effort in ERCOT, Ambit told Matters that it has been offering the products since early September.  While Ambit did not wish to identify the number of enrollments more specifically than several thousand, Ambit said that the enrollments have been consistent since launching (as opposed to an initial spike and then tapering off).  Ambit said that it continues to see organic growth in the small commercial space as more independent consultants become familiar with promoting the offers.

The ERCOT small commercial products are all fixed price offers, with varying terms form 6 months to 36 months.
