Viridian Energy to Start Signing PECO, Duquesne Customers Nov. 22
Viridian Energy confirmed that it plans to start signing customers at PECO and Duquesne Light on November 22.  Viridian will offer residential customers its standard product suite: a variable rate with 20% renewable content, and a variable rate with 100% wind content.


ALJ Denies TexRep6 Motion to Say Revocation Proceeding
A Texas ALJ has denied the petition of TexRep6, LLC for a stay of PUCT Staff's petition to revoke the REP certificate of TexRep6 for alleged non-compliance with licensing requirements under Subst. R. §25.107.


RRI Energy Earnings Improve
RRI Energy reported higher adjusted EBITDA of $212 million in the third quarter of 2010, compared to $100 million in the third quarter of 2009, on improved energy margins driven by higher heat rates related to warmer weather in July and early August and improved economic conditions compared to the same period last year, as well as a reduction in losses from coal hedges.  Income from continuing operations before income taxes for the third quarter of 2010 was $41 million, compared to a loss from continuing operations of $9 million for the third quarter of 2009.  The 2010 reported results include net unrealized gains from energy derivatives of $51 million, $5 million in merger-related costs and a $113 million charge for long-lived assets impairments. The reported numbers for 2009 include net unrealized gains from energy derivatives of $7 million.  Net income was $22.8 million, versus a loss of $15.4 million a year ago.


CL&P Reports Standard Service Suppliers
Connecticut Light and Power reported that the following wholesale suppliers will serve CL&P's Standard Service load during the calendar year 2011: Constellation Energy Commodities Group, Inc.; Hess Corporation; NextEra Energy Power Marketing, LLC; and PPL EnergyPlus, LLC.


Priority Power Management Opens Abilene Office, Hires Two for Business Development
Broker Priority Power Management, LLC, has opened of a new office in Abilene, Texas, to be led by Bob Forman and Kevin Bredemeyer who have recently joined the company as Directors of Business Development.  Forman was most recently a Business Development Manager at Constellation NewEnergy and previously served as West Texas Regional Sales Director at Reliant Energy.  Bredemeyer most recently directed west Texas sales efforts at WTU Retail, with prior stints at Constellation NewEnergy and Reliant Energy.


PUCT Issues REP Certification Written Order
The PUCT has issued a final written order concerning amendments to the REP certification rules under Subst. R. §25.107 (Project 37685).  In the final rules, the Commission declined to require pre-approval for changes in control, or to change the current limit on the number of trade names.
