Champion Energy to Start Offering Residential Service at ComEd in January

Email This Story
November 8, 2010

Champion Energy, LLC said that it intends to start offering residential electric service to customers at Commonwealth Edison starting in January 2011.

Scott Fordham, president and chief executive officer of Champion Energy, said that Champion's residential market entry is not contingent on the start date for Purchase of Receivables at ComEd.  ComEd's POR tariff as originally filed had an effective date of December 1, 2010, but the tariff is still awaiting a decision from the Illinois Commerce Commission, and ComEd subsequently filed to have an effective date of no later than April 1, 2011.

Champion will offer two different 12-month fixed price products to residential customers, a standard product and a 100% renewable product.

Champion Energy's expansion of its Illinois license to serve residential customers at ComEd, Ameren, and MidAmerican Energy was first reported by Matters (5/20 & 3/4).
