Email This Story
November 10, 2010

Commence Energy has submitted an updated status report to the Georgia PSC on its re-entry into the Atlanta Gas Light market, and now says that it anticipates that it will begin marketing to potential new customers no later than February 28, 2011, as opposed to by January 31, 2011 as anticipated in its September report.

Commerce reported that the execution of the utility agreement concerning credit requirements with Atlanta Gas Light has been delayed due to the time and resources devoted to answering several PSC Staff data requests in connection with its re-application for a marketer license.

Commerce anticipates that the agreement with AGL will now be completed by November 15, 2010.

Additionally Commerce anticipates that it will complete third-party vendor agreements, set-up internal systems, and complete technical testing with AGL no later than December 31, 2010.

In the final phase of its re-entry, Commerce will finalize marketing materials and submit the materials to the Commission for approval.  Upon approval of the marketing materials, Commerce will start marketing to potential customers and processing customer enrollments.  Commerce anticipates that this phase will be completed no later than February 28, 2011.

Commerce Energy's marketing campaigns will be directed towards both firm and interruptible customers.

In response to a Staff data request, Commerce said that it will use Quantum Gas and Power for energy management services in addition to its in-house supply management staff.  Commerce Energy will outsource the billing function, using Ista North America.
