Email This Story
November 23, 2010

The average generation rate for commercial customers on Rate GS at PECO will increase from 5.71¢/kWh to 8.98¢/kWh effective November 30, 2010, under a further reconciliation of PECO's competitive transition charge.

The new Rate GS charges for energy and capacity will specifically be as follows:

18.82¢ per kWh for the first 80 hours' use of billing demand

6.83¢ per kWh for additional use; except

3.99¢ per kWh over both 400 hours' use of billing demand and 2,000 kWh.

That compares to the current rates of:

11.11¢ per kWh for the first 80 hours' use of billing demand

4.53¢ per kWh for additional use; except

2.97¢ per kWh over both 400 hours' use of billing demand and 2,000 kWh.

The Rate GS charges listed above are for energy and capacity only, and are not an all-in Price to Compare.  PECO has not posted updated Prices to Compare on its website yet.

The energy and capacity charge for Primary Distribution (Rate PD) customers will also rise to an average of 7.68¢/kWh, with a break-out of the new Rate PD charges below:

$7.51 per kW of billing demand

8.42¢ per kWh of the first 150 hours' use of billing demand

5.71¢ per kWh for the next 150 hours' use of billing demand

3.04¢ per kWh for additional use

Current Rate PD charges for energy and capacity are:

$4.13 per kW of billing demand

5.42¢ per kWh of the first 150 hours' use of billing demand

3.93¢ per kWh for the next 150 hours' use of billing demand

2.46¢ per kWh for additional use.

The energy and capacity charge for Rate R residential customers will decrease from 9.39¢/kWh to 9.19¢/kWh effective November 30.  Charges for optional rates RH and RT will also decrease as well.

Details for additional rate classes can be found in M-2009-2128478 as Supp No 110 to PA PUC No 3; Eff: 11/30/10.

The changes do not affect previously reported Prices to Compare for the period beginning January 1, 2011.
