Constellation NewEnergy Seeking Authority to Serve Residential Customers in Pennsylvania

Email This Story
December 15, 2010

Constellation NewEnergy has submitted an amendment to its Pennsylvania electric generation supplier license to expand the customer classes it may serve to include residential customers and commercial customers under 25 kW in all service areas.

Constellation NewEnergy, which submitted the application on December 10, asked that the amendment be granted at the December 16 Pennsylvania PUC public meeting, so that Constellation NewEnergy, "can begin making offers to customers pursuant to the amended license as early as January of 2011."

Constellation NewEnergy's residential terms of service included with the application, which Constellation said have already been approved by the PUC Bureau of Consumer Services, suggests that Constellation will offer a 12-month and 24-month fixed product.  Both products would include a $150 early termination fee.

Constellation NewEnergy would serve residential customers in Pennsylvania under the brand Constellation Energy, which is the trade name it is using for its New Jersey residential offerings, first reported by Matters four months ago (8/27).  Constellation, through BGE Home, is also offering residential electric service in Maryland.

Matters also exclusively reported in October that Constellation NewEnergy had been granted authority to serve residential customers at Commonwealth Edison (10/27).
