Energy Management Resources of Missouri Fined $100, Receives Md. Broker License
The Maryland PSC fined Energy Management Resources of Missouri, Inc. (EMR) $100 for brokering electric service without the requisite license and granted EMR an electric broker license to serve non-residential customers in all service areas.  Staff proposed a fine of $13,500 for the unlicensed activities, but Commissioners were split on whether such a high fine was appropriate, as it was not clear when EMR ceased soliciting new clients once it became aware of the broker license requirement in 2009.  Chairman Douglas Nazarian and Commissioner Lawrence Brenner preferred treating the company the same as the Commission previously treated Affinity Energy Management (which was fined $25/day or $22,500 total for unlicensed electric activity), since about 15 months passed between the date EMR became aware of the license requirement and the date it submitted an application.  However, Commissioners Harold Williams, Susanne Brogan, and Therese Goldsmith voted to set the fine at $100, since it appeared, despite the lengthy delay, that EMR was not soliciting new business during that time.  

Affinity Energy Management Fined $100, Receives Md. Gas Broker License
The Maryland PSC fined Affinity Energy Management $100 for gas brokering activity without the requisite license and granted Affinity Energy Management a natural gas broker license to serve non-residential customers in all service areas.

IntelliGEN Resources Receives Maryland Broker License
The Maryland PSC granted IntelliGEN Resources LP an electric broker license to serve customers in all service areas.

Paetec Energy Receives Md. Gas Broker License
The Maryland PSC granted Technology Resource Solutions, Inc. (Paetec Energy) a natural gas broker license to serve non-residential customers.
