Reliant Energy to Offer Home Energy Monitor "This Year"

Reliant Energy will begin offering customers a wireless home energy monitor, providing real-time information about their electricity use and cost, "later this year," Reliant said in rebranding several of its smart energy services under the "e-Sense" banner.

Reliant did not wish to disclose any additional details regarding the home energy monitor at this time.

The e-Sense brand now includes Reliant's time of use product, weekly summary usage and cost emails, and account management portal for customers with provisioned advanced meters.

The e-Sense account management portal allows customers with smart meters to see their projected bill amount (rather than simply usage); set alerts based on usage, cost, and billing; establish a budget and monitor spending verses the budget; and see electric usage by hour, day, week, month and year.
