Pepco Further Revises D.C. SOS Rates for Period Starting June 1, 2011

February 16, 2011

Pepco has filed further revisions to its proposed SOS rates in the District of Columbia for the period beginning June 1, 2011, to reflect revised cash working capital costs included in the rates.

Pepco had originally filed proposed SOS rates on January 28.  The newly revised rates can be found at this link.

Pepco's revised rates reflect a requested increase in the Administrative Charge for the Residential customer class from $0.005 per kWh to $0.006 per kWh, and for the Large Commercial customer class from $0.0065 per kWh to $0.00725 per kWh.  "These increases are related to Cash Working Capital expense incurred during June 2009 and May 2010 due to PJM's change from monthly to weekly settlements effective June 2009," Pepco said.

While the increased cash working capital expense has been captured in rates after June 2010, the expense incurred during June 2009 through May 2010 has not yet been reflected in rates, Pepco reported.  "The Company proposes to recover this expense during the Year 7 SOS period, June 2011 through May 2012.  It should be noted that even with these updates, SOS rates will decrease for all rate classes," Pepco said.
