Direct Energy Launches Residential Service at ComEd

Direct Energy has begun offering electric supply to residential customers at Commonwealth Edison.

Direct is offering a 12-month fixed rate of 6.89¢/kWh with no termination fee. Direct said that the rate is 17% lower than ComEd's applicable supply charges, based on published electricity supply rates and transmission charges effective through May 2011 for residential non-electric space heating customers and excluding the Purchase Electricity Adjustment.

Similar to other markets, Direct is also offering a discounted 12-month fixed rate of 6.69¢/kWh to senior citizens and military personnel, with no termination fee.

Direct will use utility consolidated billing for its ComEd residential customers.

Direct is not currently offering residential electricity at Ameren.
