Dominion East Ohio Intends to File Application for Next Step in Exit of Merchant Function

Dominion East Ohio has submitted a notice of intent to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to continue with the next phase of its exit from the merchant function.

The one-page advance notice of intent did not discuss specific details, but did state that Dominion East Ohio, "will request Commission approval for DEO to combine its next Standard Service Offer and Standard Choice Offer auctions and implement other changes."

Dominion East Ohio said that it intends to file its application within 30 days.

Specifically, Dominion East Ohio informed the Commission:

"Pursuant to Rule 4901:1-19-04(A) of the Ohio Administrative Code, The East Ohio Gas Company d/b/a Dominion East Ohio ('DEO' or 'Company') hereby gives notice to Commission staff of its intent to file an application pursuant to Section 4929.04 of the Ohio Revised Code. In accordance with that statute, and to the extent necessary to implement its application, DEO will request Commission approval for DEO to combine its next Standard Service Offer and Standard Choice Offer auctions and implement other changes thereafter to facilitate the Company's ongoing transition to a more competitive natural gas commodity market pursuant to its general exemption of natural gas commodity sales service and/or ancillary service from all provisions of Chapter 4905 of the Revised Code with the exception of Section 4905.10; Chapters 4909 and 4935 of the Revised Code with the exemption [sic] of Sections 4935.01 and 4935.03; Sections 4933.08, 4933.09, 4933.11, 4933.123, 4933.17, 4933.28, 4933.31, and 4933.32 of the Revised Code; and from any rule or order issued under those chapters or sections, including the obligation under Section 4905.22 of the Revised Code to provide commodity sales service or ancillary service."
