Maine PUC Corrects Security Requirement for Freedom Energy Logistics
The Maine PUC has issued a corrected order granting Freedom Energy Logistics, LLC a competitive electricity provider license limited to serving residential customers as part of the Bangor Hydro-Electric hourly priced rate trial, should Freedom Energy Logistics be selected as a supplier for the trial (see 5/18). The corrected order reduces the amount of security required from $14,700 to $1,470. As previously reported, the amount of security was intended to reflect 10% of Freedom Energy Logistics' expected revenue from 50 residential customers under the six-month trial (12/28), but the original order reflected a math error. The typical security required of electric suppliers is $100,000.
