Md. PSC Directs Utilities to Propose Changes to SOS Price Comparison Language

April 5, 2011

The Maryland PSC, from the bench, directed the utilities to propose modifications to the current SOS price comparison information language established in June in Case 9228.

Specifically, the Commission directed the utilities to modify the sentence stating that SOS prices beyond a certain date have not yet been set, in order to provide the date by which such prices shall be set.

For example, at Baltimore Gas & Electric, the current residential SOS comparison information states, "The price of Standard Offer Service electricity after September 30, 2011 has not yet been set."

In a compliance filing, BGE has proposed modifying this sentence, effective with the May 2011 billings (at which time the rate for October 2011 through May 2012 will be known), as follows: "The price of Standard Offer Service electricity after May 31, 2012 will be set in November 2011."
