Kane "Can't Say Yet" Approach D.C. PSC Will Take Regarding POR

District of Columbia PSC Chairman Betty Ann Kane "can't say yet" how the Commission will address requests to implement Purchase of Receivables.

Kane was addressing the National Energy Marketers Association Restructuring Conference.

As exclusively reported by Matters, Clean Currents has asked that the PSC direct Pepco implement POR, given the likely operational synergies stemming from Pepco's implementation of POR in Maryland (1/17). NEM submitted comments supporting Clean Currents' request (3/9).

While Kane could not comment on the direction that the PSC may go with the POR petition, she did say that suppliers will likely see something "shortly."

Kane also affirmed that the D.C. Commission is "aware" of the experience with POR in Maryland, and will consider such experience. With the introduction of POR, residential migration at Pepco and Baltimore Gas & Electric has increased to 15% and 19%, respectively.
