In addition to seeking authority to serve residential customers in Maryland (granted last week) and Pennsylvania, Reliant has authority to serve residential customers in New Jersey and the District of Columbia.

In its first quarter earnings call, NRG Energy said that Reliant was "well along" in developing a Northeast residential electric supplier (5/6).

Reliant also told Matters that it is interested in serving residential customers in all markets where it is currently active as a commercial and industrial supplier, and expects to make additional filings for residential authority in those states. Markets where Reliant currently only has non-residential authority include Illinois and Delaware.

In a letter dated May 2 to the District of Columbia PSC, docketed this past Friday, Reliant notified the PSC that it will, "immediately begin providing electric services to Residential and Small Commercial customers in the Potomac Electric Power Company territory."
