ComEd Residential Migration Surpasses 25,000

May 24, 2011
Email This Story

Over 26,000 residential customers have migrated to competitive supply at Commonwealth Edison.

The number stems from a discovery response in the ICC's rehearing proceeding regarding POR at ComEd (see related story).

According to the data response, some 26,517 residential customers were taking service under Rider PORCB (and thus had migrated) at some point after ComEd's change from class-specific uncollectible factors for POR to a combined uncollectibles factor.

The excerpt of the data response cited in testimony did not provide a specific date for the migration number. However, it would be some time after March 31, according to ComEd which reported 1,862 migrated residential customers as of March 31, 2011.

Also note that the 26,517 number only includes customers served on POR, and not additional migrated residential customers served on dual billing (as may be served at BlueStar Energy Services or Champion Energy).
