Email This Story

TXU Energy has launched a prepaid product in ERCOT.

TXU's intent to offer prepaid service was first reported in Matters last month (5/11).

TXU said that its FlexPower prepaid plan is "competitively priced" with other similar prepaid plans in the market. Pricing was not immediately available.

TXU said that there is no long-term contract or cancellation fee associated with the prepaid plan.

The product, which relies on provisioned advanced meters, is offered in the Oncor and CenterPoint territories.

TXU will accept prepayments online, by phone, or at authorized payment centers. TXU will accept debit/credit card payments through all payment channels, as well cash at authorized payment centers only.

Payments made with agent assistance will be charged a $3.95 convenience fee. Authorized payment centers may also charge additional transaction fees.

Customers will be informed of their balance via text or email, and may also view this information online.

TXU is not offering an in-home energy monitor with its prepaid plan at this time, but said that it plans to add more options in the future.
