TXU Offering Indexed Product with Prepaid Plan

TXU is offering an indexed product as part of its FlexPower prepaid plan first reported by Matters yesterday (6/14).

The indexed product reflects both a volumetric energy charge and a flat daily charge. At Oncor, the daily charge is 25 cents per day, and at CenterPoint, the daily charge is 33 cents per day.

At Oncor, the current average per kWh rate (reflecting both the energy and daily charge) for 1,000 kWh usage is 11.3 cents per kWh. At CenterPoint, the current average rate for 1,000 kWh usage is 12.4 cents per kWh.

TXU will not submit a Disconnect for Non-Pay order related to a prepaid account until the accounts reaches $0.

TXU may charge a $20 reconnection fee, in addition to applicable TDU disconnection/reconnection fees.

Customers may also be charged a $2 fee for each request for a paper copy of their Summary of Usage and Payment Document or other account documentation. Customers may avoid this fee by obtaining this information online. Additionally, TXU will not charge a document fee for providing the customer's Summary of Usage and Payment Document to an energy assistance agency.

TXU does not have a minimum connection balance, but encourages customers to initially prepay an amount sufficient to cover a week of service in addition to any applicable TDU fees (such as Move-In fees).
