Independence Energy, a subsidiary of Energy Plus Holdings, LLC which is focused on multi-level marketing, has launched service in New Jersey.

Energy Plus Holdings, LLC's creation of a network marketer was first reported in Matters (4/6)

Independence Energy declined to discuss any details with Matters other than those contained in a news release.

Independence Energy said that it will offer a 20% and 100% green product to residential and commercial customers.

Offers are currently available at all four of the New Jersey investor-owned electric distribution companies.

Current residential rates are as follows (all products are monthly variable rates in cents per kWh)

Atlantic City Electric
20% Green: 11.790
100% Green: 13.190

Jersey Central Power & Light
20% Green: 11.590
100% Green: 12.990

PSE&G
20% Green: 11.590
100% Green: 12.990

Rockland Electric
20% Green: 11.990
100% Green: 13.390

Independence Energy will offer customers 5% cash back with each product. For every 12 months in which a customer is enrolled, Independence Energy will send them a check in the amount of 5% of the total dollar amount of the supply charges of the customer's electricity bill, excluding taxes, during the twelve month program period.

Independence Energy said that it has plans to expand to other states in the U.S. by the end of the year, but declined to provide specifics. Adagio Energy, the Energy Plus Holdings, LLC affiliate which apparently is serving the load of the Independence Energy customers, is also licensed in Illinois and (apparently) New York (Independence Energy would not confirm New York licensure, but Adagio Energy does appear as EDI certified on the PSC's site).

Independence Energy's network marketing arm is named Independence Energy Alliance.

Independence Energy was founded by Chet Seely, who serves as Managing Director, and Jeffrey Meiler, who serves as President, who are veterans of direct marketing and/or network marketing
