Connecticut Close to Launching Revised Rate Board

July 13, 2011
Email This Story

Connecticut is "very close" to implementing significant changes to the electric rate board, and the PURA will also accept comments on changes to the referral program to drive customers to the rate board.

An order in Docket No. 10-06-24 created several new requirements for the supplier posting of prices on the rate board, including new categorizations of products as variable, monthly variable, fixed, renewable, and promotional (3/17).

These definitions have not yet been incorporated into the rate board, but PURA Staff said that they are close to making changes to include these categorizations, and allowing customers to sort by these product types.

Additionally, Staff sought comments on the supplier referral program; specifically, the bill insert used in the program.

Currently, the bill insert lists specific rates from suppliers. Staff is weighing removing rates from the referral program bill insert, and instead including a description of the program and driving customers to the rate board for pricing.
