FirstEnergy Solutions Launches ComEd Residential Offer with Aggressive Pricing

FirstEnergy Solutions has launched a residential electric offer at Commonwealth Edison, undercutting all other offers publicly posted on the Illinois Commerce Commission rate board.
FirstEnergy Solutions has been active in serving residential customers in Illinois via municipal aggregation, but this is its first publicly available offer to individual residential customers.
The newly launched offer, which was not available on FirstEnergy Solutions' website as recently as early this week, is now available on the FirstEnergy Solutions site as well as the new PlugIn Illinois price comparison chart offered by the Illinois Commerce Commission (see related story).
FirstEnergy Solutions is offering ComEd residential customers a fixed price of 6.59 cents per kWh through July 2013, which is the lowest rate on the PlugIn Illinois rate board (just under the 6.6 cents per kWh offered by Champion Energy for 12, 18 or 24 months). Most of the other lowest market-wide offers (excluding special senior/military discounts, etc.) are in the 6.8-6.9 cents per kWh range.
The offer includes an early termination fee of $150.
FirstEnergy Solutions is not offering residential service to individual customers in the Ameren territory at this time, at least not through its website or PlugIn Illinois.
