Nicor Electric, Viridian Post Rates on PlugIn Illinois

August  3, 2011
Email This Story

Nicor Electric and Viridian Energy have each begun posting residential electric offers at Commonwealth Edison on the PlugIn Illinois site.

Nicor Electric, the previously reported partnership between Nicor Inc. and Dominion Retail (see 7/11), is offering a fixed price of 6.79 cents per kWh through May 2013. There is no cancellation fee associated with Nicor Electric's product.

Viridian's rates, first reported by Matters (see 7/27), include a variable 5.99 cents per kWh for 20% renewable power, and a variable 6.5 cents per kWh for 100% renewable power.

Viridian's variable rate of 5.99 cents is currently the lowest offer in the ComEd residential market based on PlugIn Illinois. The next lowest rate is Direct Energy's senior/military rate of 6.49 cents (12 months fixed), then Viridian's 6.5 cents 100% wind variable rate, and then FirstEnergy Solutions' fixed rate of 6.59 cents through July 2013, which is available to all customers.
