Green Mountain Energy Expands Sun Club Affinity Program to New York

August  12, 2011

Green Mountain Energy has expanded its affinity program supporting solar developments at local non-profits to the Consolidated Edison territory.

Green Mountain Energy residential electric customers in New York City and Westchester County can now opt to donate $5 per month through Green Mountain Energy's Sun Club to help donate solar energy technology to local non-profits. The $5 is added to the customer's monthly invoice.

Customers electing to make a Sun Club donation receive a "priority" Green Mountain customer service number and also have a tree planted on their behalf in a reforestation project through American Forest.

To date, Green Mountain Energy has installed almost 350 kW of solar energy for non-profits in Texas under the program.

Through the New York Sun Club program, Green Mountain Energy expects to select and announce at least three solar projects for local non-profits before the end of 2011. All funds are dedicated to local projects in the state in which the funds are collected.
