Volkswagen plans to, "offer a 'full-service package' for customers of its electric cars by selling them power from renewable sources," the Financial Times reported in an article (registration required) about VW's latest electric car.

FT quoted Jürgen Leohold, Executive Director of Volkswagen Group Research, as saying, "You buy a VW, you get a VW energy package, and all your [green] visions are fulfilled."

North American sales by VW were 280,900 through the end of July.

In a July news release regarding a PPA for hydropower covering 10% of its German facilities, VW said that it is investing about 600 million euros in energy supplies in the medium term.

VW has also invested in the construction of small scale hydropower in Brazil (about 48 MW) to supply its factories there.
