First Choice Power is opening a dedicated indirect sales office in Houston that will serve channel partners and customers.

The office will be run by Lance McGee, business development manager for First Choice Power.

It's another piece of First Choice Power's strategy to grow its indirect sales business, which has seen "tremendous" growth in the past year, said Jeff Schiefelbein, Vice President of sales for First Choice Power.

Schiefelbein said that with First Choice Power headquartered in Las Colinas, the new Houston office will allow First Choice Power to better reach brokers located in the Houston area, and provide them with responsive and consistent service.

"Focusing on our channel partners is a vital part of our mission to put customers first," McGee added. "Moving to Houston to manage the indirect sales office is a great step forward in doing that with all of our partners in Houston and its surrounding areas," McGee said.

On an average month, Schiefelbein said that two to four new brokers place their first customers with First Choice Power, while in a "busy" month, the number of new brokers working with First Choice can be as high as 10.

At the new Houston office, customers and brokers will be able to come in to the office to discuss energy rates and options, meet with McGee about any customer service issues they are experiencing, or get advice on how to better manage electricity costs.

As previously reported, First Choice Power has seen strong commercial sales (8/5), with the past five quarters seeing double-digit measured growth.
