September  29, 2011

Direct Energy confirmed that it has entered into an exclusive agreement with 5Linx under which 5Linx representatives will market Direct Energy residential electric supply at Commonwealth Edison.

At this time, Direct Energy said that the partnership will roll out service at ComEd only, though other markets are under consideration.

Under the agreement, 5Linx and Direct Energy both have mutual exclusivity for ComEd. In other words, 5Linx cannot contract with another energy supplier in ComEd, and Direct Energy cannot contract with another network marketing vendor in ComEd.

Along with announcing the Direct Energy partnership in Illinois to its independent representatives, 5Linx said in a weekly communication that it has also expanded its residential energy program to Baltimore Gas & Electric and Pepco-Maryland.

Additionally, 5Linx informed representatives that its Pennsylvania gas marketing has been expanded to include PECO and Columbia Gas.

5Linx did not return a request for comment on the Pennsylvania and Maryland programs, and which supplier(s) would be partnering with 5Linx in these states.
