Freedom Energy Logistics Procuring BHE Large Customer Standard Offer Supplies

Freedom Energy Logistics announced that it has been selected by Bangor Hydro-Electric to structure BHE's Standard Offer supply procurement for the large non-residential customer class for the six month period ending February 2012. The selection of Freedom Energy Logistics to manage the supply comes after, as only reported in Matters (8/15), the PUC rejected all bids for the standard six-month Standard Offer contracts for the class, and directed BHE to establish a monthly price for large customer default service.


NRG Submits Notification of Suspension for Three S.R. Bertron Units

ERCOT has received Notifications of Suspension of Operations for NRG Texas Power LLC, S.R. Bertron Units 3, 4 and GT2.


Viridian Corrects CL&P Fixed Rate

Viridian corrected its 12-month fixed rate at Connecticut Light & Power for 100% renewable power to be 10.49 cents per kWh. For about two hours yesterday, the rate was incorrectly listed on Viridian's website as 9.01 cents, including when Matters checked for our story yesterday. Viridian said that any enrollments during such time would have been honored with the 9.01 cent rate, but that no enrollments were received during the period.


Just Energy Group Closes Fulcrum Retail Acquisition

Just Energy Group Inc. has closed its previously reported acquisition of Fulcrum Retail Holdings LLC which includes the retail brands Tara Energy, Amigo Energy and Smart Prepaid Electric.


Garland to Pay $15,000 Regarding Failure to Meet Ancillary Obligations

The City of Garland would pay $15,000 to resolve PUCT Staff allegations that Garland failed to adhere to ERCOT Protocol Sec. 6.3.2(2), concerning ancillary service provider obligations on February 26, 2008, in violation of PURA 39.151(j) and Subst. R. 25.503(f)(2). Staff alleged that Garland did not deploy, in total, the Responsive Reserves as required under its obligations.


Luminant Submits NSO for Monticello Units

Luminant formally submitted a Notification of Suspension of Operations with ERCOT for Monticello Units 1 and 2. Luminant had previously announced the idling of the plants due to federal environmental regulations (9/12).


FERC Sets Proceeding to Address 2000-01 Market Manipulation in Pacific Northwest Spot Market

Pursuant to the directives from the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, FERC opened additional proceedings to address possible unlawful activity that may have influenced electricity prices in the Pacific Northwest spot market during the period from December 25, 2000 through June 20, 2001 (EL01-10-026). FERC established an evidentiary, trial-type hearing before an ALJ, and re-opened the record to permit parties to present evidence of unlawful market activity during the relevant period. Furthermore, FERC established a trial-type, evidentiary hearing to allow participants to supplement the record with additional evidence on California Energy Resources Scheduling transactions in the Pacific Northwest spot market from January 18, 2001 to June 20, 2001. Parties may also submit evidence concerning other transactions involving purchases of power in the Pacific Northwest spot market for consumption elsewhere during the period from December 25, 2000 through June 20, 2001.
