GDF Suez Retail Energy Solutions Receives Illinois License

The Illinois Commerce Commission granted GDF Suez Retail Energy Solutions, LLC an alternative retail electric supplier license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers, at Commonwealth Edison. The application was first reported in Matters (7/21). As previously reported, GDF Suez Retail Energy Solutions, which is GDF Suez's new mass market supplier, did not originally seek certification to serve residential customers at this time, but the ICC licensing process does not contemplate authorization to serve small commercial but not residential customers. In a supplemental response, GDF Suez Retail Energy Solutions said that it tentatively plans to offer residential service in Illinois in early to mid-2013. Accordingly, the ICC granted the certificate under Subpart D, allowing GDF Suez Retail Energy Solutions to serve all customer classes.

ConEdison Solutions Receives Authority to Serve Residential Customers in Illinois

The Illinois Commerce Commission granted Consolidated Edison Solutions, Inc. an expanded alternative retail electric supplier license to include service to residential customers and commercial customers with annual usage under 15,000 kWh at Commonwealth Edison. The application was first reported in Matters (8/10). ConEdison Solutions was previously authorized to serve larger customers at both ComEd and Ameren. Originally, ConEdison Solutions had sought an amendment to serve all customers at both Commonwealth Edison and Ameren, and, after a brief and cursory review of the case filings, it is not clear when this request was amended to include small volume service at ComEd only. Nevertheless, the ICC's final order describes the sought additional authority as only including service to small customers at ComEd, and only such authority was granted.

TERM Power & Gas Receives Illinois Electric License
