PPL Posts Default Service Procurement Results

PPL Electric Utilities has posted results from its January 9 procurement of default service supplies.
For residential customers, PPL procured 12-month full requirements contracts, for the period beginning March 1, 2012, representing 11.25% of load, at an average winning price of $63.40/MWh. All prices in this release do not reflect the gross up for line losses and taxes to derive the retail price to customers.
For residential customers, PPL procured 24-month full requirements contracts, for the period beginning March 1, 2012, representing 5.625% of load, at an average winning price of $71.41/MWh.
Also for residential customers, PPL procured a 50 MW block of energy for the 12-month period beginning March 1, at a price of $39.26/MWh. The block energy price is for around-the-clock energy and does not include capacity, ancillary services, and alternative energy credits.
For small commercial customers, PPL procured 12-month full requirements contracts, for the period beginning March 1, 2012, representing 11.25% of load, at an average winning price of $65.95/MWh.
For small commercial, PPL procured 24-month full requirements contracts, for the period beginning March 1, 2012, representing 5.625% of load, at an average winning price of $73.62/MWh.
PPL also procured alternative energy credits as follows:
• 187 Tier I Solar AECs at a price of $59.00/AEC
• 15,416 Tier I Non-Solar AECs at a price of $1.65/AEC
• 24,971 Tier II AECs at a price of $0.19/AEC
