ComEd Sees Increase in Growth Rate of Residential Shopping

Residential customers at Commonwealth Edison who have switched to a competitive supplier and completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply increased by about 45,000 accounts during the month of January, according to the latest statistics from the Illinois Commerce Commission.

As previously noted, the ICC statistics linked below show customers who have switched to a competitive supplier and have completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply. Accordingly, the data lags completed enrollments.

As of the end of January, 270,727 residential customers at ComEd had completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply, compared with 225,486 as of the end of December.

The net growth of 45,000 ComEd residential customers billed on competitive supply during January is up from the net growth of 30,000 residential customers seen in December

Residential customers at Ameren who have switched to a competitive supplier and have completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply as of the end of January were as follows:

Rate Zone I, AmerenCIPS: 14,287

Rate Zone II, AmerenCILCO: 6,950

Rate Zone III, AmerenIP: 24,841

The net growth in residential accounts billed on competitive supply at Ameren during January, compared to the December totals, was as follows:

Rate Zone I, AmerenCIPS: +2,836

Rate Zone II, AmerenCILCO: +1,611

Rate Zone III, AmerenIP: +5,119

For comparison, the residential migration growth in each Ameren territory during December had been:

Rate Zone I, AmerenCIPS: +2,897

Rate Zone II, AmerenCILCO: +1,009

Rate Zone III, AmerenIP: +4,453

Migration to competitive supply in the ComEd under 100 kW commercial class increased by 3,000 accounts during January, versus the December total.
