The following are brief notes shared by panel participants during yesterday's DNV KEMA 23rd Retail Executive Forum:
Stream Energy Pa. Customer Count into Six Figures
Stream Energy Chairman Rob Snyder said that Stream has in excess of 100,000 customers in Pennsylvania. Snyder also said that Stream, overall, has 850,000 residential customer equivalents.
Just Energy to Expand to UK This Summer
Ken Hartwick, CEO of Just Energy, said that the retail supplier would expand to the United Kingdom this summer.
TEPA to Expand to Beyond Texas
Paul Ward, President of The Energy Professionals Association (TEPA), formerly known as the Texas Electricity Professionals Association, said that, as hinted by the recent name change, the organization for aggregators, brokers, and consultants intends to expand its reach beyond Texas.
Cawley Looks for Retail Providers to Offer More Time of Use Products
Pennsylvania PUC Commissioner James Cawley pleaded for retail suppliers to offer more Time of Use offerings in Pennsylvania. By law, utilities must offer time of use generation options; however, Cawley noted that utilities have implemented the programs poorly, with rates that did not align to the market, and which accordingly resulted in large under-collections (though not cited by name, the largest example of this is the PPL Time of Use program, as previously reported). Though there have been some competitive retail dynamic pricing options introduced (Direct Energy and Respond Power come to mind), the offering of such options has generally been limited.
