ERCOT has issued an initial determination concerning the Notification of Suspension of Operations for the Lower Colorado River Authority's Ferguson unit FERGUS_FERGUSG1.

On January 25, 2013, ERCOT had received Notification of Suspension of Operations (NSO) for the unit with a proposed effective date of September 30, 2013.

Pursuant to requirements under ERCOT Protocol 3.14.1.2 (3), ERCOT issued an initial determination that, "this unit may be needed for Reliability Must Run service."

"ERCOT intends to continue to review the impacts of this NSO on transmission system reliability, in coordination with the impacted transmission owners, in an effort to develop alternative solutions. Following that continued review, and taking into account alternative solutions that may be developed, ERCOT will issue its final determination of whether the Generation Resource is required to provide voltage support, stability or management of localized transmission constraints under first contingency criteria by March 26, 2013," ERCOT said in a market notice.
