Constellation Promoting Critical Peak Rebate Program Constellation is currently promoting a critical peak rebate program to its commercial and industrial customers.
Called "Price Response," the program pays customers for reducing usage, versus a baseline, during events as called by Constellation, known as "conservation hours."
The price paid for load reductions varies with each event based on numerous factors, although the price will primarily be based on real time energy prices. The price paid for load reductions is announced to customers prior to the event.
As a critical peak rebate program, the program is voluntary and there is no penalty for not reducing load.
The program is currently only open to C&I customers with a fixed energy rate.
Constellation notes in collateral material for the program that although customers are protected from price volatility under the fixed rate, Constellation may have some exposure. Paying customers to reduce their load at critical peak times helps Constellation, "manage real-time electricity price spikes," the company noted.
Constellation's Price Response critical peak rebate program is available to C&I customers in ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, and ISO-NE.
There are no size requirements for C&I customers to be eligible for the program. Customers must have an interval meter or provisioned advanced meter to participate.
