Toledo Edison issued an alert to customers yesterday, "about recent reports of potential door-to-door utility sales fraud."

"Numerous reports have been received in northwest Ohio of door-to-door sales people claiming to be from Toledo Edison promising the homeowner they can save money on their electric bills. It also has been reported that these sales people may ask to see the customers' electric bills," Toledo Edison said.

"We want our customers to know that Toledo Edison and FirstEnergy are not engaged in any door-to-door sales campaigns," said Linda Moss, regional president of Toledo Edison. "In some cases, we've heard the sales people have been quite aggressive. We urge our customers to remain vigilant before they admit any person to their residence, release any personal information or sign anything presented by an unsolicited visitor."
