Texas REP Offering $600 Incentive for Enrollment A Texas retail electric provider is offering customers a $600 incentive for new enrollments.
Specifically, Direct Energy is offering customers up to $600 in free electricity, in the form of bill credits, when signing up for a 24-month fixed rate electricity plan.
Direct's 24-month Price Advantage Plan provides two free months of electricity which will take the form of a bill credit in the February 2014 and February 2015 electricity bill, for electricity consumed in January 2014 and January 2015, up to $300 each month. The customer must remain on the plan and not have a past-due balance of more than $5 at the time of the credit.
In the Oncor service area, Direct's 24-month Price Advantage Plan includes an average all-in fixed rate of 9.9 cents per kWh (at 1,000 kWh usage per month).
In the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service area, Direct's 24-month Price Advantage Plan includes an average all-in fixed rate of 11.0 cents per kWh (at 1,000 kWh usage per month).
A minimum usage fee of $9.95 per month applies if usage is less than 999 kWh/month.
The product includes an early termination fee of $300. However, the customer may cancel without being charged the early termination fee if the customer contacts the company before the first bill is due.
Direct Energy affiliates CPL Retail and WTU Retail offer a similar product with two free months of electricity at AEP Texas Central and AEP Texas North, respectively.
