Reporting by Karen Abbott • kabbott@energychoicematters.com

Ambit Energy will offer retail electric service in two new states by the end of October, and expand to an additional natural gas market in an existing state.

Specifically, Ambit Energy will begin offering electricity in Rhode Island, at National Grid, and in Delaware, at Delmarva Power, on October 30.

Additionally, on October 30, Ambit will expand its service to include natural gas service at PECO in Pennsylvania. Ambit currently offers electric service at PECO.

In each of the new markets, Ambit will offer service to residential and small commercial customers.

Ambit said that the new markets bring access to 1.5 million potential customers.

Ambit Energy also said that it is on track to double its revenue and customer counts to $2 billion and 2 million, respectively, in only 24-36 months. This compares to the first seven years it took Ambit Energy to reach the landmarks of $1 billion in revenue and 1 million customers.
