Reporting by Paul Ring • ring@energychoicematters.com

Volkswagen Group (UK) Ltd has selected retail supplier Ecotricity to offer owners of VW electric vehicles in the U.K. a 100% renewable electricity plan.

It's a natural affinity channel which, to date, has been largely untapped in the U.S. but is anticipated to grow with the further development of EV offerings.

BMW did offer, through Green Mountain Energy, RECs and/or load following renewable supply to customers of BMW's EV pilot, but we are not aware of a full production U.S. EV to date offering renewable power supply through a preferred retail supply partner.

Nissan did ink a deal to provide free charging for new Leaf owners at NRG's eVgo public charging stations in Texas, but it does not appear the affinity extends to home charging.
