ERCOT Issues Final RMR Determination for Luminant Unit
ERCOT has issued its initial and final determination of RMR status for Martin Lake Unit 3, finding that the unit is not needed to support ERCOT transmission system reliability. The unit may be mothballed according to the schedule in its Notification of Suspension of Operations. The NSO indicated that Martin Lake Unit 3 will suspend operation on a year-round basis and begin operation on a seasonal basis with a Seasonal Operation Period beginning May 15, 2014 and ending September 30, 2014.
Former PUCT Staffer Appointed to OPUC
Texas Gov. Rick Perry appointed Tonya Baer to the Office of Public Utility Counsel for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. Baer is an attorney and assistant director/special counsel for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Radioactive Materials Division. Baer is a former legislative liaison for TCEQ and the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, former senior revenue analyst for the Governor's Division of Budget, Planning and Policy, and former staff attorney at the Public Utility Commission.
