The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio has approved the results of the last of five wholesale auctions that will ultimately determine Duke Energy Ohio's electric generation rates through May 2015.

Specifically, the auction for a portion of SSO supplies from June 1, 2014 to May 31, 2015 resulted in a tranche-weighted average price of $50.11/MWh.

This price will be blended with prices received in December 2011, May 2012, November 2012 and May 2013 auctions to determine the generation prices paid by customers from June 1, 2014 through May 31, 2015.

There were 11 suppliers registered for the auction, and five suppliers submitted winning bids.

The names of the winning suppliers will be released by the PUCO on December 4, 2013.
