Retail Supplier Confirms Massachusetts Entry in Announcing New Solar Expansion
Major Energy Electric Services has confirmed that it will enter the Massachusetts retail energy market, as it announced the inaugural customer of a new renewable energy division.
Specifically, Major Energy, through its 99% equity stake in Palmer Solar LLC, has constructed a 2.5 MW PV solar ground array in Palmer Massachusetts, with 100% of the energy being sold to the University Of Massachusetts Medical School under a 30-year PPA.
Major Energy said that it will begin offering its full suite of variable rate and fixed rate energy products to Massachusetts residential and commercial customers in 2014 to complement the solar launch. Major Energy would not disclose which utilities it would enter initially, but confirmed that retail electricity supply would be among the products, with natural gas, "definitely on the horizon," as well.
Major Energy currently serves residential and commercial customers in the deregulated natural gas and electric markets of Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
