Crius Energy Co-Founder, Former MXenergy VP Launching Start-up Retail Supplier; Will Offer Efficiency Upgrades at No-Upfront Cost
A co-founder of Crius Energy and a former vice president at MXenergy are launching a new start-up retail supplier, Lumens Energy Supply LLC.
Lumens Energy Supply LLC said in a market-based rate application at FERC that it will engage in retail sales of electricity and natural gas in New York, and, in the future, it may expand its retail sales business into other states. An affiliate, Lumens Energy Supply CT LLC, has specifically been created to enter the Connecticut retail electric market.
Juliana Claussen Konikowski serves as President of Lumens Energy Supply. Konikowski was previously Vice President of Portfolio Management & Pricing at MXenergy and Executive Vice President of Portfolio Management at Glacial Energy.
Control over Lumens Energy is ultimately vested in two individuals: Isaac Barber and David Levy. Each holds a small (1.8 percent) ownership interest in Crius Energy, LLC
Barber was a co-founder of Crius Energy and previously served on its board of directors. Barber also served as portfolio manager at Platinum Partners
In addition to offering retail energy supply, Lumens Energy will be engaged in offering energy efficiency projects and services, offering turnkey solutions to upgrade buildings with no up-front cost. Lumens Energy's website states that for customers electing the company for retail energy supply, Lumens Energy will pay for the identified efficiency projects, with repayment coming from the expected savings.
On its website, Lumens Energy also lists Chaya Nourafchan as a member of its team. Chaya was assistant investment officer at Marbridge Energy Finance Fund LLC, an alternative investment fund focused on financing competitive retail energy companies.
