NRG Energy has confirmed to EnergyChoiceMatters.com that it is "working with" Comcast on a retail energy initiative.

Earlier today, Pennsylvania PUC Chair Robert Powelson said during public remarks that Comcast would soon be launching a bundle which offers retail electricity supply in addition to cable, internet, phone, and other services.

NRG Energy at this time could not confirm the specific nature of its ongoing work with Comcast on retail energy, and could not confirm the specifics cited by Powelson. Powelson had indicated that he understands the offer is planning to be launched in Q4 of this year.

However, NRG Energy did confirm to EnergyChoiceMatters.com that it is working with Comcast, and that the work is a new initiative and is in addition to prior collaborations (Reliant kiosks at Comcast stores, etc.).

EnergyChoiceMatters.com had first reported in 2012 that Reliant has had various presences, such as kiosks, in local Comcast retail stores

Earlier: Powelson: Comcast to Offer Retail Energy Supply as Part of Bundle

During this morning's ABACCUS call, Pennsylvania PUC Chair Robert Powelson said that Comcast would soon be launching a bundle which offers retail electricity supply in addition to cable, internet, phone, and other services.

Electric supply would be offered by an unnamed retail supplier that Powelson did not disclose, not Comcast itself.

Powelson indicated that he understands the offer is planning to be launched in Q4 of this year.

Although the retail supplier partner may not necessarily be a company with which Comcast has worked in the past, EnergyChoiceMatters.com had first reported in 2012 that Reliant has had various presences, such as kiosks, in local Comcast retail stores
