Direct Energy Releases Pricing for Texas Smart Thermostat Plan
Direct Energy has posted pricing for its newly launched Meridian Savings Plans in Texas, which include, as part of the bundles, up to three smart Honeywell WiFi thermostats.
The Meridian Savings Plans are 24-month fixed plans, with the rate depending on whether the customer selects 1, 2, or 3 smart thermostats.
While the thermostat is included at no additional charge, installation costs $69.99 for the first thermostat and $49.99 for each additional thermostat. Professional installation is conducted by a licensed One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning technician, and includes in the cost a 20-point HVAC seasonal maintenance valued at $138
The installation fee is charged at the time of installation and is payable to the installer; it is not paid through the electric bill.
In the Oncor service area, the Meridian Savings Plan with 1 free thermostat is a 24-month fixed product with an all-in rate of 11.0¢/kWh (based on 1,000 kWh usage)
In the Oncor service area, the Meridian Savings Plan with 2 free thermostats is a 24-month fixed product with an all-in rate of 11.6¢/kWh (based on 1,000 kWh usage)
In the Oncor service area, the Meridian Savings Plan with 3 free thermostats is a 24-month fixed product with an all-in rate of 12.1¢/kWh (based on 1,000 kWh usage)
In the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service area, the Meridian Savings Plan with 1 free thermostat is a 24-month fixed product with an all-in rate of 11.8¢/kWh (based on 1,000 kWh usage)
The Meridian Savings Plan products include a $300 early termination fee for the 1 thermostat product, $350 for the 2 thermostat product, and $400 for the 3 thermostat product
Direct Energy said that the plan is currently only available at the Oncor and CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service areas. "Customers in the rest of our US service area will have access to this plan and technology as it becomes available," Direct Energy said.
